The vast majority of the the air conditioner systems that we install are traditional HVAC systems with ductwork. Every now and then, we encounter a situation where a ductless AC system is a better option. Below are a few scenarios when a homeowner or property manager should consider the ductless option.
1. Homes with no space for ductwork
Some older homes may not have been designed with modern HVAC systems in mind. If there is no space to add ducts, then you may be forced into using a ductless AC system,
2. Additions and Renovations
Similar to the reason or scenario above, sometimes a home addition or renovation project cannot be completed with traditional / proper ductwork. Or, the new room may be in location that cannot be connected to the existing central HVAC system and ducts.
3. Enclosed Patios or Sunrooms
Many times enclosed patios or Florida sunrooms are better suited for 1 ductless wall AC unit.
4. Hot Rooms
You may have a room in your house that is consistently warmer or hotter than other rooms in the house. In this situation, returns can often be added to the ceiling / existing ductwork to assist with air flow. However, in some cases adding a new ceiling return is not possible. A ductless AC system can be an ideal solution for that one room in your home which is always warmer than it should be.
Air Care recommends Mitsubishi Electric units for ductless HVAC applications as well as wall-mounted GREE Ductless Mini Splits (depending on the situation, setup, and budget). Mitsubishi Electric is the #1 selling brand in the United States for ductless AC systems. These systems can be mounted in different and sleek ways to match or blend in with the decor of a room. In addition, these systems are also WiFi friendly and can be controlled via an app / web service. Although GREE AC units are made in China, their AC units are decent quality and are sometimes a good option for budget-minded customers and specific AC applications.
